MGNREGS Dues Soar to Rs 9,300 Cr in FY26; UP, AP, Karnataka Top List

•Pending MGNREGS liabilities to states reached over Rs 9,300 crore for FY 2025-26, as informed to Rajya Sabha.
•Uttar Pradesh (Rs 1,158.71 Cr), Andhra Pradesh (Rs 1,014.60 Cr), and Karnataka (Rs 746.65 Cr) have the highest outstanding amounts.
•Minister Kamlesh Paswan stated MGNREGS is demand-driven, with wages directly credited to beneficiaries via DBT.
•Sanctions for wage payments are issued daily through the Public Finance Management System (PFMS) based on state requests.
•All admissible pending wage liabilities up to FY 2024-25 have been cleared, except for West Bengal; Rs 78,004.59 crore released in current FY.
