Mizoram Sees 1,845 Live Births in January 2026, Female Births Outnumber Males

• Mizoram recorded 1,845 live births and 720 deaths in January 2026, as per the Economics and Statistics department.
• Female births (949) surpassed male births (896) in January; Aizawl district led with 732 live births.
• 1,127 births occurred in urban areas, 718 in rural areas; 5 stillbirths were also reported.
• Of 720 deaths, 456 were males and 264 females; 479 deaths in urban areas, 241 in rural areas.
• 15 infants and 5 children aged 1-5 died in January; 2025 saw 21,873 births and 8,080 deaths with significant male mortality.
