Mizoram TB Crisis: 145 Deaths, 2,275 New Cases in 2025; Minister Urges Early Detection
•Mizoram recorded 145 Tuberculosis deaths and 2,275 new TB cases in 2025, according to the state Health Department.
•Of the new cases, 1,364 were males and 911 were females; 146 had multi-drug-resistant TB, and 267 were co-infected with HIV.
•Aizawl district reported the highest number of cases with 1,569, followed by Lunglei (155) and Kolasib (138).
•TB fatalities have steadily increased from 31 in 2020 to 136 in 2024, reaching 145 in 2025.
•The state is implementing a "TB Free Village" initiative, with 150 villages eligible for the status in 2025, and Health Minister Lalrinpuii emphasized early detection and treatment.
