• This recent tremor follows three earthquakes that hit Myanmar on February 15, with magnitudes of 4.5, 3.2, and 3.2 respectively.
• The February 15 quakes occurred at depths of 100 km, 25 km, and 80 km, according to NCS data.
• Myanmar is highly susceptible to earthquakes and tsunamis due to its location at the convergence of four tectonic plates: Indian, Eurasian, Sunda, and Burma plates.
• The 1,400-kilometre Sagaing Fault, running through Myanmar, poses a significant seismic hazard to densely populated areas like Sagaing, Mandalay, Bago, and Yangon.
