NLC, UPRVUNL Joint Venture Starts Coal Production in Jharkhand
•Neyveli Uttar Pradesh Power Limited (NUPPL), a joint venture of NLC India Ltd and UP Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Ltd, has begun coal production.
•The Pachwara South Open Cast Project in Jharkhand commenced coal production on March 29, 2026, after overburden removal started on December 19, 2025.
•This initiative boosts domestic coal output for power generation, enhancing India’s energy security.
•The coal will primarily fuel NUPPL's 3x660 MW Ghatampur thermal power plant in Ghatampur, Uttar Pradesh.
•The Pachwara South coal block, located in Dumka district, Jharkhand, has an extractable reserve of 264.84 million tonnes with a mining capacity of 9 million tonnes per annum.
