Coal India, DVC Form New Power JV: DVC CIL Power Private Ltd Launched
•Coal India Ltd (CIL) and Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) have formally incorporated a joint venture company, DVC CIL Power Private Ltd, on March 27, 2026.
•The JV has equal shareholding, with CIL and DVC each holding 50% equity, and an initial capital of 50,000 equity shares of ₹10 each.
•The new entity will focus on power generation across thermal, hydro, and renewable energy segments, including planning, research, design, construction, operation, and maintenance of projects.
•Its mandate also includes exploring power transmission and distribution systems and commercial utilization of by-products like fly ash and silica.
•Coal India also announced an investment of around ₹3,300 crore to set up eight new coking coal washeries by FY2030 to improve coal quality and reduce import dependence.
