Coal India, DVC Form New Power JV: DVC CIL Power Private Ltd Launched

• Coal India Ltd (CIL) and Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) have formally incorporated a joint venture company, DVC CIL Power Private Ltd, on March 27, 2026.
• The JV has equal shareholding, with CIL and DVC each holding 50% equity, and an initial capital of 50,000 equity shares of ₹10 each.
• The new entity will focus on power generation across thermal, hydro, and renewable energy segments, including planning, research, design, construction, operation, and maintenance of projects.
• Its mandate also includes exploring power transmission and distribution systems and commercial utilization of by-products like fly ash and silica.
• Coal India also announced an investment of around ₹3,300 crore to set up eight new coking coal washeries by FY2030 to improve coal quality and reduce import dependence.
