Odisha CM: 40 Maoists Active in Splinter Groups Across Six Districts

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi stated that around 40 Maoists operate in splinter groups across six districts.
•
The state government aims to end Left Wing Extremism (LWE) in Odisha by March 31, 2026.
•
Kandhamal is the only district in Odisha under the Centre's "Other LWE Affected District" category.
•
Eight other districts previously affected by Naxal activities have been downgraded to the less severe "Legacy & Thrust" category.
•
Odisha has revised its surrender and rehabilitation scheme for Maoists, leading to 45 surrenders since November last year.
