Punjab Slashes Power Tariffs for Domestic, Commercial Consumers; New Rates from April 1
•Punjab Power minister Sanjeev Arora announced significant power tariff reductions for various consumer categories.
•Domestic consumers will see a 70 paise per unit reduction, while commercial consumers get up to 79 paise per unit cut.
•New tariffs, including reduced fixed charges for residential consumers (Rs 5-10/KW) and traders, will be implemented from April 1.
•Electric vehicle charging tariff set at a fixed Rs 5 per unit, making it the lowest across all categories.
•Industrial sector benefits from reduced fixed charges (up to 100 kw) and no tariff increase in financial year 2026-27; advocates now pay residential rates.
