Telangana relied on RBI borrowings for 363 days in FY25: CAG report

Telangana government availed Special Drawing Facility (SDF) of Rs 27,730 crore from RBI for 363 days in FY25.
•
The state also utilized Ways and Means Advances (WMA) amounting to Rs 64,188 crore for 298 days, with Rs 5,842 crore outstanding.
•
Overdrafts totaling Rs 37,457 crore were accessed for 123 days when cash balance fell below the minimum limit.
•
SDF and WMA are short-term borrowing mechanisms by RBI to help states maintain minimum cash balance.
•
K Kavitha criticized the Revanth Reddy administration, alleging reliance on RBI for routine expenditure despite Rs 12,000 crore monthly revenue.
