VACB Registers Record 818 Corruption Cases in 5 Years, Intensifies Anti-Corruption Drive

• The Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (VACB) registered 818 corruption-related cases in Kerala over the past five years.
• A record 232 trap cases were registered, catching officials red-handed, with 57 in 2025 alone, including a Rs 15 lakh bribe seizure.
• VACB conducted 421 vigilance investigations, 1,847 preliminary enquiries, 547 secret verifications, and 11,294 surprise inspections.
• Vigilance courts disposed of 136 cases, convicting 227 accused; a new court was established in Kollam to expedite trials.
• Digital transformation includes a Cyber Forensic Lab, a Crime and Enquiry Management Service portal, and an AI-based complaint system under development.
