Maharashtra Amends Land Code: Grazing Lands Now Open for Public Projects

• Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule presented the bill, freeing thousands of hectares for development.
• Approximately 7,700 hectares in Municipal Corporations, 3,000 in Nagar Parishads, and 4,000 in Municipalities are now available.
• Lands can be used for schools, hospitals, parks, roads, and other basic amenities; commercial use is strictly prohibited.
• Ownership rights remain with the state government, but local bodies can use them with permission, accelerating urban development.
