Maharashtra to Convert Class 2 Lands to Class 1 for Ex-Servicemen, Farmers: Big Relief

Maharashtra government to convert 'Class 2' lands to 'Class 1' (freehold) for ex-servicemen, landless farmers, and agricultural laborers.
•
Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule announced the policy will be declared by March 31, 2026.
•
Aims to remove legal restrictions on transfer and transactions of these lands, making them freehold.
•
Government will charge a minimum premium, similar to Nazul lands, to avoid undue financial burden on beneficiaries.
•
Proposal approved by Law and Judiciary and Finance Departments; final policy in preparation after considering public suggestions.
