UK Jobless Rate Hits 5-Year High at 5.2% as Pay Growth Slows

UK unemployment rate reached 5.2% in Oct-Dec 2025, highest in nearly five years.
•
1.883 million people aged 16 and over were unemployed, an increase from previous periods.
•
Employment rate for 16-64 year olds was 75.0%, a slight decline from the previous quarter.
•
Economic inactivity rate fell to 20.8%, indicating more people are seeking or in work.
•
Annual wage growth was 4.2%, but real wage growth (adjusted for inflation) was only 0.5%.
