Bengaluru Metro Fares Set to Rise Again, Just a Year After Major Hike

  • Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has proposed a 5% fare hike to the Karnataka government.
  • This comes barely a year after a 71% fare increase in February 2025, which made Namma Metro the most expensive in India.
  • The proposed hike could see minimum fares rise by Re 1 and maximum fares by up to Rs 5 for long-distance routes.
  • Examples include Majestic to Whitefield/Bommasandra fares increasing from Rs 80 to Rs 84, and Majestic to Challaghatta from Rs 60 to Rs 63.
  • BMRCL officials attribute the need for revision to the corporation's poor financial health; Karnataka government's approval is pending.
