Jharkhand Electricity Rates Hike: 6.12% Increase from April 1, Rural & Urban Impact

Jharkhand State Electricity Regulatory Commission announces a 6.12% electricity tariff hike effective April 1, 2026.
•
Domestic consumers using up to 200 units monthly are exempt from the increase.
•
Rural consumers exceeding 200 units will pay Rs 7.20/unit (up from Rs 6.70); urban consumers Rs 7.40/unit (up from Rs 6.85).
•
Commercial rates also rise by 50 paise in rural and 60 paise in urban areas; agricultural rates remain unchanged.
•
Discounts for timely bill payment (2%) and prepaid smart meters (3%); no change for rooftop solar projects.
