Bangladeshi Visitor Plunge: India's Foreign Tourist Arrivals Hit 3-Year Low in 2025

•India recorded 90.16 lakh Foreign Tourist Arrivals (FTAs) in 2025, the lowest in three years and below pre-pandemic levels.
•A significant 73% drop in Bangladeshi visitors, from 17.5 lakh in 2024 to 4.7 lakh in 2025, was the primary reason for the decline.
•Historically India's largest source market, Bangladesh's share in FTAs fell from 24% in 2019 to 5% in 2025, now ranking fifth.
•Excluding Bangladesh, India's FTAs actually grew by 4% in 2025, indicating a shift towards long-haul markets like the USA, UK, Canada, and Australia.
•Foreign exchange earnings from tourism also dropped to $31.33 billion in 2025 from a record $35.02 billion in 2024.
