Northwest India braces for rain, thunderstorms; Delhi NCR to see rising mercury

- •Low-pressure area over east Equatorial Indian Ocean to intensify, affecting weather in adjoining regions.
- •Thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds (30-40 kmph) expected in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Rajasthan on Feb 17-18, and Madhya Pradesh on Feb 18.
- •Maximum temperatures to remain 2-4 degrees Celsius above normal across northwest India plains, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka.
- •Delhi NCR forecast: Partly cloudy with mist on Feb 17 (29-31°C), light rain/thunderstorms on Feb 18 (26-28°C), clear skies on Feb 19.
