Govt to Demolish Shastri, Krishi Bhawans for ₹3,000 Crore Secretariat Buildings

• The Centre plans to demolish Krishi Bhawan and Shastri Bhawan in New Delhi to construct Common Central Secretariat Buildings 4 and 5.
• The project, estimated at over ₹3,006 crore, involves demolishing 1.22 lakh square metres on Dr Rajendra Prasad Road.
• New Buildings 4 and 5 will be eight-story PEB steel structures, with a two-year construction deadline and five years of operation and maintenance.
• Ministries from Krishi Bhawan (Agriculture, Rural Development, Panchayati Raj) and Shastri Bhawan (Information and Broadcasting, Education, Culture) are relocating.
• Key ministries like Defence, Home, and Finance are moving to the recently inaugurated Kartavya Bhawans (Buildings 1, 2, 3), and the PMO is expected to move to Seva Teerth 1.
