India's First AI-Powered Air Taxi Unveiled: 36km in 8 Mins, Fuel-Free

• India's first AI-powered air taxi, developed by The E Plane Company and IIT Madras, showcased at India AI Impact Summit 2026.
• The e-VTOL aircraft can cover 36 km in 8 minutes, a journey that takes two hours by road, at an estimated fare of 1,700 rupees.
• It operates without a runway, takes off/lands vertically, and has multi-stop capability on a single charge.
• The aircraft generates less noise (under 120 decibels) and is cheaper to operate and maintain than helicopters, running on battery power.
• Manufactured in India, it has received Design Organization Approval (DOA) from DGCA, with air ambulance services planned for 2027.
