Modi Unveils ₹5,500 Crore Projects in Assam, Launches 7.75 km Brahmaputra Bridge

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated projects worth over ₹5,500 crore in Assam, including a 7.75 km Brahmaputra bridge, an IIM, and a data center.
  • The six-lane Kumar Bhaskar Varma Setu, built at ₹3,030 crore, connects Guwahati with North Guwahati, reducing travel time to seven minutes.
  • The bridge incorporates base isolation technology and a Bridge Health Monitoring System for durability and safety in a seismic region.
  • Modi also unveiled IIM Guwahati (second in Northeast, 22nd nationally) and a ₹348 crore National Data Centre for the region.
  • Additionally, 225 electric buses were flagged off under the PM-eBus Sewa Scheme for Guwahati, Nagpur, Bhavnagar, and Chandigarh.
