Over 93,000 Women Missing in Maharashtra in 2 Years: Govt Data Reveals Alarming Trend

More than 93,000 adult women reported missing in Maharashtra over the last two years, as per government data.
•
In 2024, 45,662 adult women and 11,316 minor girls went missing; 30,877 women and 8,475 girls were traced.
•
In 2025, 48,278 women and 12,113 minor girls were reported missing; 36,581 women and 10,295 girls were traced.
•
Operation Muskaan, a special drive to trace missing children, has been running since July 2015, with 13 phases completed by 2024.
•
The data underscores a serious social concern, highlighting the need for stronger preventive measures, awareness, and faster response systems.
