India Boosts Defense with Rs 5,083 Cr Contracts for Helicopters, Russian Missiles

India signs two major defense contracts worth Rs 5,083 crore on March 3, 2026, to enhance maritime and air security.
•
First contract with HAL for 6 Advanced Light Helicopters (Dhruv) ALH Mk-III for Indian Coast Guard, costing Rs 2,901 crore.
•
These helicopters will bolster maritime patrol, search & rescue, and fisherman safety, supporting 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' with 65 lakh man-hours employment.
•
Second contract with Russian company Rosoboronexport for 'Vertical Launch Shtil' missiles for the Indian Navy, valued at Rs 2,182 crore.
•
The missiles will significantly strengthen the Navy's air defense capabilities on warships against enemy aircraft and missiles.
