• This marks the first direct investment by a global shipbuilding major in India's core shipbuilding infrastructure.
• The partnership, with equal participation, aims to establish India as a serious shipbuilding nation, leveraging Hyundai's expertise and CSL's infrastructure.
• An initial investment of Rs 4,500-5,000 crore is planned for a ship block fabrication facility near CSL's existing yard, creating 2,000 direct jobs.
• The venture will enable construction of larger, more sophisticated vessels like cargo ships, container vessels, and tankers, with an agreement expected in H2 2026.
