•Ola Electric plans to raise Rs 2,000 crore by selling a minority stake in its battery arm, Ola Cell Technologies (OCT).
•The fundraise aims to restructure operations, strengthen the balance sheet, and regain market share amid a sales slide.
•OCT operates India's first gigafactory in Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu, with 1.5 GWh capacity, scaling to 6 GWh by year-end.
•The gigafactory, a Rs 3500 crore investment, is vital for localizing battery cell manufacturing and reducing import dependence.
•OCT's Battery Innovation Centre holds 400 patents and developed the 4680-format Bharat Cell, deployed in Ola Electric vehicles.
