India to acquire 5 more S-400 systems from Russia amid Mideast conflict; Pakistan trembles
•
Defence Procurement Board approved the purchase of five additional S-400 air defense systems for the Indian Air Force from Russia.
•
Decision comes amidst escalating conflicts in West Asia involving ballistic missiles and kamikaze drones, and ongoing tensions with Pakistan.
•
The proposal will now move to the Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) and then to the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) for final approval.
•
India currently operates three S-400 systems, which proved effective against Pakistani missiles during Operation Sindoor.
•
Last month, DAC also approved the acquisition of 288 S-400 missiles (120 short-range, 168 long-range) worth ₹10,000 crore to replenish expended stock.
