NFR Conquers Tunnel 8: Sevoke-Rangpo Rail Project Nears Sikkim Connectivity

Northeast Frontier Railway and IRCON International Limited successfully completed excavation of Tunnel No. 8 in the Sevoke-Rangpo Rail Project.
•
The 4.148 km long Tunnel No. 8 was excavated under extremely challenging geological conditions, marking a crucial step for the Sikkim rail link.
•
Excavation is now complete for 13 out of 14 tunnels in the 44.96 km project, which aims to connect Sikkim to the national rail network.
•
Significant progress includes 32.4 km of tunnel lining and 21 km of ballastless track installation, advancing operational readiness.
•
The project features 14 tunnels, 13 major bridges, 10 minor bridges, and five stations including an underground halt at Teesta Bazar.
