Telangana Cabinet takes over Hyderabad Metro Phase-1 from L&T; plans massive expansion

•Telangana Cabinet, chaired by CM Revanth Reddy, decided to take over Hyderabad Metro Rail Phase-1 from L&T.
•The state government aims to complete the takeover by March 31st to secure central government approvals and funds for expansion.
•A special ministerial sub-committee led by Deputy CM Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka formed to oversee the transfer.
•The government will spend approximately 15,000 crore rupees, including bearing 13,000 crore debt and paying 2,000 crore equity to L&T.
•Phase-2 expansion of 86 km, connecting Old City, airport, and Future City, planned with central and state government partnership.
