Namkhana Fishing Harbor: 40 Crore Project Brings Joy to Fishermen

• West Bengal is constructing a state-of-the-art fishing port in Namkhana at an estimated cost of 40 crore rupees.
• The project aims to benefit fishermen, particularly those in North and South 24 Parganas.
• The port will feature drinking water tanks, ice plants, public toilets, an administrative building, and a dry dock for trawler repairs.
• It will also include ramps for direct unloading of catch, four covered sheds for net repair, and a separate accommodation building for fishermen.
• A large cold storage facility and advanced technology for trawler operations are planned, with completion targeted by January 2027.
