200-Year-Old Patashpur Zamindar House Crumbles: A Fading Legacy
•The Ramchandrapur Zamindar house in Patashpur, Purba Medinipur, a 200-year-old structure, is now in ruins.
•Built by three brothers, Motilal Nayek, Hiralal Nayek, and Jhatulal Nayek, on 8.5 bighas, it once housed a grand palace and a Vishnu temple.
•The family held significant influence in Ramchandrapur, Kaithor, and Gokulpur, establishing Egira Jhatulal High School and promoting religious activities.
•With the end of the zamindari system, the once-grand building has fallen into severe disrepair, with peeling plaster, cracks, and collapsed walls.
•Many local youth are unaware of its rich history, as this silent witness to 200 years of heritage slowly fades away.
