Kuno National Park: Cheetahs, Gharials, and Turtles Thrive in Conservation Hub

Kuno National Park welcomes 9 new cheetahs from Botswana, increasing the total population in Madhya Pradesh to 47.
•
Project Cheetah, initiated in 2022, has successfully seen cheetahs from Namibia, South Africa, and now Botswana.
•
The park's suitable ecology and prey availability have led to successful breeding, with 27 Indian-born cheetah cubs.
•
Kuno is also a critical habitat for gharials, with 80% of the world's population residing in the Chambal River.
•
CM Mohan Yadav will release 10 gharials and turtles into the Kuno River, expanding conservation efforts beyond cheetahs.
