AM/NS India to begin work on Rs 70,000 cr Andhra steel plant next week

ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AM/NS India) will commence work next week on its integrated steel plant in Andhra Pradesh.
•
The project, India’s largest greenfield steel project, involves an investment of INR 70,000 crore in the first phase.
•
The plant will have an 8.2 million tonnes per annum capacity near Visakhapatnam, with the Andhra Pradesh government allotting 2,200 acres.
•
AM/NS India CEO Dilip Oommen highlighted strong state-industry coordination and the plant's role in serving eastern and southern markets.
•
Initial units are expected to be operational by end-2028 or early-2029, with full commissioning targeted by 2030.
