Delhi Boosts Commercial LPG Allocation by 50% to Ensure Uninterrupted Supply
•Delhi Food and Supplies Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa announced a 50% increase in commercial LPG cylinder allocation, from 1,800 to 4,500 cylinders (19 kg equivalent) per day.
•The enhanced supply aims to prevent black marketing and hoarding, with strict legal action against violators under the Essential Commodities Act of 1955, LPG Distribution Order of 2000, and Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
•The decision follows Union Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas directives, dividing commercial LPG distribution into seven priority categories with specific daily quotas.
•Hotels, restaurants, dhabas, food processing, and dairies (Category 3) will receive the largest share of 3,375 cylinders (75%), while essential services, educational institutions, and health facilities (Category 1) get 5%.
•The increase ensures uninterrupted supply for critical sectors, including essential services, hotels, industries, and support for migrant laborers, based on average consumption over the last three months.
