DJB Boosts Yamuna Cleanup: 10 Sewage Plants Upgraded, Capacity Rises
•
Delhi Jal Board (DJB) upgraded 10 sewage treatment plants (STPs) over the past year to reduce waste entering the Yamuna River.
•
Sewage treatment capacity increased from 707 MGD to 735 MGD, with installed capacity now at 814 MGD across 37 operational STPs.
•
35 decentralised STPs are being set up to enhance treatment capacity, improve sanitation, and benefit 29.7 lakh citizens.
•
DJB is collaborating with Haryana and IIT Roorkee to reduce water losses in Delhi-bound canals and increase water availability.
•
11 out of 22 drains discharging wastewater into the Yamuna have been tapped, with plans underway for the remaining ones.
