IBA Urges 20% CBG Blending in Delhi CNG for Cleaner Air, Carbon Neutrality

The Indian Biogas Association (IBA) proposes blending up to 20% compressed biogas (CBG) into compressed natural gas (CNG) in Delhi.

This initiative aims to bring gaseous mobility closer to carbon neutrality and improve air quality.

IBA emphasizes that existing CNG infrastructure can facilitate the upscaling of CBG supply, a carbon-negative fuel.

A 20% CBG blend could save Delhi USD 63 million in foreign exchange from reduced gas imports.

The association recommends retaining CNG in Delhi's clean mobility strategy and phasing out high-polluting diesel vehicles.
