India's Power Capacity Soars: Crosses 50 GW Addition in Apr-Jan, Sets New Record

• India's power generation capacity addition exceeded 50 GW during April-January of the current fiscal year.
• This marks the highest-ever capacity addition in a single year, surpassing the previous record of 34,054 MW.
• A record 52,537 MW of generation capacity from all sources was added up to January 31, 2026.
• Renewable energy sources contributed 39,657 MW, including 34,955 MW from solar and 4,613 MW from wind power.
• India's total installed power generation capacity reached 520,510.95 MW as of January 31, 2026.
