India's Sugar Production Jumps 12.43% to 24.75 Mn Tonnes by February: ISMA
•India's sugar production reached 24.75 million tonnes till February in the current marketing season, a 12.43% increase from the previous year.
•Higher output from Maharashtra (9.53 mn tonnes) and Karnataka (4.45 mn tonnes) drove the increase.
•Uttar Pradesh saw a marginal rise to 7.48 million tonnes.
•305 factories are currently operational, down from 330 last year.
•ISMA urges an early upward revision of the Minimum Selling Price (MSP) to address rising production costs and cane payment arrears, which stood at Rs 4,601 crore in Maharashtra by February 15.
