Govt sets 30.3 mn tonne wheat procurement target for 2026-27 RMS

•Government fixes wheat procurement target at 30.3 million tonne for the 2026-27 Rabi Marketing Season (RMS).
•Target finalized at a State Food Secretaries meeting chaired by the Secretary in the Department of Food and Public Distribution (DFPD).
•Wheat output expected to reach 120 million tonne, surpassing last year's record, due to record sowing and favorable weather.
•FCI projects 18.2 million tonne wheat stocks by April 1, 2026, ensuring adequate domestic supply.
•India lifted a four-year wheat export ban in February, approving 2.5 million tonne wheat and 500,000 tonne wheat product shipments.
