Project GIB: 2 New Chicks Hatch in Rajasthan, Captive Tally Reaches 70

Project Great Indian Bustard (GIB) enters its fourth year of captive breeding.
•
Two new chicks hatched this week at the Conservation Breeding Centre in Rajasthan.
•
One chick resulted from natural mating, the other from artificial insemination.
•
This brings the total number of GIBs in captivity to 70.
•
Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav announced plans to soft-release some captive-bred chicks into the wild this year.
