Punjab to get new medical college in Kapurthala, construction starts March 25

•Punjab Health Minister Dr Balbir Singh announced a new government medical college in Kapurthala.
•Named Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji State Institute of Medical Sciences, it will be built at the existing district hospital complex.
•Construction begins March 25, aiming for completion by March 2028, at a cost of Rs 275 crore.
•The institute will have a 300-bedded hospital and a medical college with 100 MBBS student intake.
•It will create over 1,000 direct jobs and upgrade hospitals in Sultanpur Lodhi and Begowal.
