43 New Medical Colleges, 20,000+ MBBS & PG Seats Approved for 2025-26: Minister
- •Minister of State for Health Anupriya Patel announced 43 new medical colleges established for the 2025-26 academic year.
- •A total of 11,682 MBBS and 8,967 postgraduate seats, including AIIMS and Institutes of National Importance (INIs), have been approved.
- •The National Medical Commission (NMC) invites applications and assesses institutions based on 2023 regulations for new colleges and seat increases.
- •A Centrally Sponsored Scheme supports new medical colleges in underserved areas, with 157 colleges approved across three phases.
- •Under the scheme, Rs 23,246.10 crore of the central share has been released out of a total approved cost of Rs 41,332.41 crore.
