43 New Medical Colleges, 20,000+ MBBS & PG Seats Approved for 2025-26: Minister

•Minister of State for Health Anupriya Patel announced 43 new medical colleges established for the 2025-26 academic year.
•A total of 11,682 MBBS and 8,967 postgraduate seats, including AIIMS and Institutes of National Importance (INIs), have been approved.
•The National Medical Commission (NMC) invites applications and assesses institutions based on 2023 regulations for new colleges and seat increases.
•A Centrally Sponsored Scheme supports new medical colleges in underserved areas, with 157 colleges approved across three phases.
•Under the scheme, Rs 23,246.10 crore of the central share has been released out of a total approved cost of Rs 41,332.41 crore.
