UP Pilibhit: College Employee Siphons Rs 1 Crore Using Fake Bills

A Class IV employee in Pilibhit, UP, allegedly siphoned off Rs 1.01 crore from the state treasury.
•
Ilham Shamsi generated fake bills and transferred funds to his wife Arshi Khatoon's bank account.
•
Bank of Baroda flagged suspicious transactions, freezing Rs 65.53 lakh; Shamsi had already withdrawn Rs 36.41 lakh.
•
Shamsi, a peon, was reportedly performing clerical duties at the DIOS office and began routing funds in September 2024.
•
District Magistrate Gyanendra Singh ordered a probe, and a three-member committee is investigating the matter.
