India's Cotton Production Estimate Rises, Domestic Demand Surges
•Cotton Association of India (CAI) increased India's cotton production estimate for 2025-26 to 320.50 lakh bales from 317 lakh bales.
•Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh are key contributors to the increase, with Maharashtra up 4 lakh bales and Andhra Pradesh up 1 lakh bales.
•Total cotton supply for 2025-26 is estimated at 428.09 lakh bales, significantly higher than the previous year's 392.59 lakh bales.
•Cotton consumption estimate increased to 315 lakh bales, reflecting strong demand from the textile sector.
•Despite increased production, closing stock reduced to 98.09 lakh bales, indicating strengthening domestic consumption, with a total surplus of 113.09 lakh bales.
