India's Sugar Output Jumps 10% to 26.21 Mn Tonne in 2025-26: ISMA
•India's sugar production reached 26.21 million tonne in the 2025-26 marketing year as of March 15, a 10.5% increase from the previous year.
•The current output has already surpassed the total net production of 26.12 million tonne for the entire 2024-25 marketing year.
•157 mills are currently operational, while 379 have closed for the season.
•ISMA is urging an early upward revision of the Minimum Selling Price (MSP) due to rising production costs and lagging ex-mill realizations, which are causing cash-flow pressures and higher cane payment arrears.
•Maharashtra's sugar production increased to 9.84 million tonne, while Uttar Pradesh produced 8.13 million tonne and Karnataka 4.60 million tonne.
