Delhi Budget 2026-27: Welfare Core, Infra Focus, Education Share Trimmed
•Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta presented a ₹1.03 lakh crore budget for 2026-27, maintaining welfare but shifting focus to infrastructure and urban development.
•Education receives the largest allocation at ₹19,326 crore (18.64%), but its share declined from nearly 25% in the previous budget.
•Healthcare spending is stable at ₹13,034 crore (12.57%), with new initiatives like a medical college at Indira Gandhi Hospital and the ANMOL scheme for newborn screening.
•Infrastructure and mobility see significant funding: ₹12,613 crore for transport, roads, bridges, and ₹11,572 crore for housing and urban development, including metro expansion and a new drainage master plan.
•Welfare schemes continue with ₹3,500 crore for electricity subsidies, ₹450 crore for free bus travel for women, and a new ₹260 crore provision for free LPG cylinders to ration card holders.
