Nashik Airport Expands for Simhastha Kumbh Mela 2027: New Terminal, 24 Counters
- •Nashik (Ozar) Airport is undergoing a major expansion to accommodate millions of devotees expected for the Simhastha Kumbh Mela in 2027.
- •A new 18,250 sq meter integrated terminal building will increase passenger handling capacity from 300 to 1,000 per hour, featuring 24 check-in counters and improved baggage systems.
- •The project includes expanding the apron area to 1.15 lakh sq meters, increasing aircraft parking bays from 6 to 12, with a parallel runway under discussion.
- •The Maharashtra government is fully funding the Rs 572-640 crore airport upgrade, with a completion deadline of March 2027.
- •A 66.15 km outer ring road, costing Rs 7,922 crore, is also being developed around Nashik to manage traffic during the Kumbh Mela, expected to attract over 5 crore visitors.
