Rewas-Karanja Bridge: Mumbai-Konkan Travel Time Slashed After 47 Years
•
Work on the Rewas-Karanja creek bridge, part of the Rewas-Reddi coastal highway, is progressing rapidly after decades of delay.
•
The 10.2 km project, including a 2.4 km main bridge, will significantly reduce travel time between Mumbai and Konkan.
•
Approximately 22-25% of the project is complete, with a target of 50% by December 2026 and full completion by March 2028.
•
The bridge will cut the Jawaharlal Nehru Port to Alibaug distance from 55 km to 30 km, bypassing the Pen-Panvel route.
•
Local objections regarding land acquisition and environmental impact in the Chanje area of Karanja are being addressed.
