Indore to Get Western Ring Road Before Simhastha, Easing Traffic Congestion

  • Indore is set to receive a Western Ring Road before the Simhastha Mela, aiming to significantly reduce city traffic.
  • The 64 km Western Ring Road, constructed by NHAI, will connect Pithampur to Ujjain via Betma, Hatod, and Sanwer.
  • It is a 6-lane access-controlled highway, allowing vehicles to travel at 100 km/h, built at a cost of 3000 crore rupees.
  • Vehicles from Mumbai, Ahmedabad, and Ujjain will bypass Indore, reducing congestion at MR-10 and Lavkush intersections by 60-70%.
  • Work on the 77 km Eastern Ring Road, also by NHAI, will soon begin, completing the Greater Ring Road project around Indore.

Why It Matters: Indore's new Western Ring Road will ease traffic and connect major routes, with an Eastern Ring Road also planned.
