AI System to Protect Elephants on Tracks in Izzatnagar Division
•
North Eastern Railway's Izzatnagar Division installs AI-based Intrusion Detection System (IDS) on 99.18 km of sensitive railway sections.
•
The system uses Optical Fiber Cable (OFC) and Distributed Acoustic Sensors (DAS) to detect elephant vibrations.
•
Real-time alerts are sent to loco pilots, station masters, and control rooms, allowing trains to slow down or stop.
•
First phase covers 24 km; additional measures include thermal cameras, sign boards, underpasses, and bee buzzing devices.
•
Key sections like Lalkuan-Gularbhoj and Kashipur-Ramnagar are being equipped with this security system.
