Indian Railways Boosts Safety: Kavach System Launched on Delhi-Howrah Corridor

• Indian Railways introduces Kavach automatic train protection system on the 190 km Prayagraj to Kanpur stretch of the Delhi-Howrah corridor.
• Kavach enhances train safety, allowing speeds of 160 kmph, reducing travel time and improving operations.
• The system was first launched with train number 14163, with a GM personally inspecting the journey.
• Initially, Kavach will be installed on eight pairs of trains, with Kavach 4.0 already operational on 1,452 km of Delhi-Mumbai and Delhi-Howrah routes.
• Kavach is an indigenous technology under Make in India, featuring automatic train protection, red signal prevention, and automatic braking.
