He led Bangladesh's interim government as chief advisor, resigning on February 16 after new elections.

Yunus was appointed interim government head on August 8, 2024, following the fall of Sheikh Hasina's government.
•
He congratulated the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and Tarique Rahman on their electoral victory.
•
Yunus will now focus on social business, poverty eradication, and the 'Three Zeros' initiative.
